Power RPI ratings for FlyerHoops readers

Jerry Palm and others have developed the RPI ratings that provide valuable data on the past and future opponents that a college basketball team will face during a season. I have long been a fan of such ratings but I thought it would be helpful to combine the RPI rating of a team with the win/loss margin to come up with a "Power Rating". The Power Rating is nothing more than a weighted win/loss margin, but the beauty of the Power Rating is that it puts not perspective the win or the loss.

Since I am just starting this new Power Rating, it will undoubtedly have be tweaked along the way but here are the criteria I am using for the Power Rating at the beginning.

The first three games of the Dayton Flyer season give the first glimpse of the Power Rating graph that I will display routinely on the FlyerHoops blog. The Power Rating will make the win bigger if the defeated team had a high RPI and will make the loss worse for losing to a bad RPI school.
